Week of fringe events 2021

A week of Fringe Events is coming back this year, starting from the 11th of June.

Stay tuned for the full programme of the week!

Here is a taster:

Creating Poetry Together

Online poetry-writing workshop led by Phil Hewitson.

Date and time: Friday 11th June, 3:30-5:00

All welcome to join us on Zoom. For all ages. Younger children may appreciate being supported by an adult.

No need to sign up, hopefully see you there!

The Zoom link will be shared on the CUF Facebook page closer to the workshop

Phil writes: Poetry can seem like a big word but really it's just a way to express yourself creatively. There are no right or wrong answers here. In the session we can look at poems that rhyme and some that don't, as well as some basic poetry forms, maybe a haiku or two. Pen and paper, maybe a notebook, would be good to have to hand. A blank sheet of A4 paper or card and a chunky marker pen will be useful too!

Phil is a writer, poet and film maker born and raised in Carlisle. He does films for Tolivar Productions, Film Fling festivals, hosts ‘SpeakEasy’ spoken word open mic night (online at the moment) and is one half of Caldew Press.

Unity Doves Flying Together

Online creative hands-on workshop led by Helen Walsh.

You’ll make a beautiful Unity Dove which can fly together with others’ doves all over Cumbria. You can also make a flock of your own of course!

Dove

Dove2

Date and time: Saturday 12th June, 11:00 to 12:30

For all ages. Younger children may appreciate being supported by an adult.

All welcome to join in – however to make this a fully participative workshop we are limiting the event to 15 screens on Zoom. A single screen can be shared by a family.

We’re asking you to book a free place with us by emailing kendalunity@awaz.info and we’ll share the Zoom link with you closer to the workshop.

Participants will be making their doves at home, and the re-purposed household materials you’ll use are very straightforward. There should be no need to buy anything new.

Here is the link to read or download the materials list.

Helen is an artist who has been part of Carlisle’s Unity Festival and is very experienced at leading groups online to be creative and make successfully.

You can enjoy her work at www.delicatestitches.co.uk

We look forward to seeing you!
